Der vil være snacks, kaffe og te og mulighed for at købe vin og øl.

Global Units is a Copenhagen based playground for musicians and other live performing artists.
Global Units is also an open network for collaboration between similar playgrounds and artists all over the world.
It is driven by curiosity and the urge for sharing and for meaningful collaboration.
We are all global units in the world. Both geographically and in terms of genres and cultural expressions. No matter if we feel related to it or not.

We arrange live sessions in collaboration with local and international artists and organizations. By having no genre borders and by focusing on networking and musical curiosity we believe these sessions will inspire both inside and around the different circles of musicians and other artists.

Our aim is to present all live events by live streaming them from our website. And we develop and integrate tools to make live streaming and promotion easy for members.

Global Units Open Session Dogma:
All are welcome – A musical conversation can include anyone.
There is no “Global Unit-genre”
There is no favourite Global Unit gender, -race, -age, -instrument or -cultural background.
Open session means that everything is shared for free, so avoid using material that you are not willing to – or allowed to – share
DJ’ing and live streaming is used if possible
All kinds of artists that would like to interact should be included.
Live studio audience is preferable.
Improvised sessions with duration of 20-30 minutes gives time for letting go of any expectations.
Listening is central – Don’t bring too many plans or expectations.
Let someone be responsible for setting the teams, so they are not set by the comfortzone of the musicians.
Have different people setting up special dogmas for occasion
Renew dogmas, when they become routine.

Vi er meget glade for at kunne fortælle, at Global Units nu er stiftet som en foreningen “Global Units”.

Foreningens formål er kort fortalt:
At fungere som en global platform for samarbejdende skabende kunstnere på tværs af medier, genrer, alder, køn og nationaliteter. Foreningen ønsker herigennem at fremme nysgerigheden og forståelsen for kulturel diversitet.

For at støtte og bakke op om foreningen, vil vi derfor opfordre alle der måtte have lyst til at blive medlemmer af foreningen.

Et medlemsskab koster 100 kr årligt.

Dear friends – colleagues, music lovers, musicians, composers, DJ’s, VJ’s, writers, graphic designers, graffiti artists, fans and ….

Come and join us! – Sunday Feb. 26th. 2012. 19:30-22:30.

We hereby invite you to participate in our upcoming “Copenhagen session no. 7” .

The last sunday of every second month we open the doors for an evening of genre clash and partially improvised sessions. We turn up the microphones and open the channel for live Internet video streaming directly to facebook, and our own webpage. As well as we do video and multi track audio recording for later editing, and concert release on our website. *

The meeting between the genre: We see it as super exciting if artists from different genres wants to participate. Actually, we prefer not think about genre, not that artists from different background would necessarily have to play together, but because one evening with different musical genre/content, will surely be an inspiration to us all.

Open for ideas: both in terms of musicians, composers, VJ artistry, painting and remixing… As long as it is in Global Units spirit!

The main idea is to have approx. 3 improvised/semi-improvised concerts of approx. 25 min duration each.

This is not a closed country for composers! All composers who have an idea for how a 25-minute impro concert is orchestrated and staged is very welcome to come with your ideas. Actually, we consider it as very important and exciting to work with improvisation within a compositional framework so that there will be a positive form and direction of the concerts. As well within the 25 minuttes there can be pre-composed material as long as it’s working relation to the rest of the 25 min. A series of pictures, paintings and texts could as an example be a starting point for the concert and its focal point.

The program will be as follows: (There is openness to suggestions for revision)

19:30 – 20 – Radio and possible interviews and with the artists.

20 – 20:30 – 1. concert – (*maximum 25 min of music)

Radio/DJ in bewtween

21 – 21:30 – 2. concert – (*maximum 25 min of music)

Radio/DJ in bewtween

22 – 22:30 – 3. concert – (*maximum 25 min of music)

22:30…We clean up, hopefully some can help.

* We use bandcamp to upload the music afterwards, and they only accepts up to 25 min of music for each upload.

The event is made possible in collaboration with LiveRec and Provector.

New musical ideas, a cozy “network” evening, participation in an exciting musical event that is even streamed live on the internet globally. – If you do not like to exhibit your own name, with the “niche-focused brand value” it might have, feel free to act under a pseudonym – Maybe this pseudonym will be your new big breakthrough

What the audience gets out of it?

A super exciting and enjoyable evening under relaxed conditions, where they can meet the artists in working in their “idea workshop”.

Why is Global Units project is important to you, too?

We are convinced that the name Global Units, in addition to our website written thoughts, communicate: humility and respect between people, a shared sense of responsibility for our planet’s well being that we in Global Units auspices can meet without religious or other cultural barriers .

December 3rd 2011 We participated in the World Tronics Music Fair in Berlin, at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
Together with Søren Raagaard from Ren Optur, Manuela Krause and Christian Buchmayr we both had a booth presenting global units and the ideas behind, as well as we made a small performance having Big Daddy Mugglestone, Manou, Søren Raagaard, Christian Buchmayr and August Engkilde in the combo.
It was a very nice day, and a lot of interested people came to our booth.
